Pointe du Hoc

 The attack of the Rangers. Most movies make a big deal about  the guns being gone ("We came all this way for nothing"). Actually, they had been removed a short distance away to be safer from Naval gunfire. It was intended to move them back, but they didn't finish the casemates in time. Two ranger sergeants found some ruts and followed the trail to the guns, where they were destroyed.

Incidentally by far the most crowded of all the places we visited.

Rangers lead the way monument (it was a "little" windy, which is why I had a grip on my hat)
